Solidarity surgery campaign in Kenya

2019.04.29 //

The Foundation, with the Solidarity Surgery Association, finances the supply of medicines and medical devices for the development of a surgical campaign at the Maragua Hospital.

In total, 800 patients have been treated and 296 interventions have been carried out, 50 of which have been in children. Thyroid, breast tumors, hernias and other cervical, gynecological or skin pathologies have been the main pathologies operated on.

Thanks to our contribution, which has amounted to 41,593 USD, we have purchased an electro-scalpel, a tray sealer, a ventilator, a defibrillator and a photophore. All this essential material to increase the quality and effectiveness of operations, which allow surgery with less bleeding and complication rate.

In addition, the team of 30 professionals, including doctors, anesthetists, surgeons and nurses, have also carried out a training and disease detection and treatment activity.

The Barceló Foundation has as one of its main objectives to contribute, in the measure of its possibilities, to the improvement of the quality of life and health of the population in those countries where they most need it.
