Tomorrow, at 19:00 hours, the closing concert of the “II Youth Orchestral Meeting” will take place at the Convent de Sant Agustí (Felanitx) of the municipality.
This afternoon the 40 young people between 8 and 14 years old from 13 municipalities of Mallorca finish the workshops of orchestral practice that they have received throughout the week by four teachers specialized in the Venezuelan Orchestra System. This system, devised by the teacher José Antonio Abreu, is an exemplary educational and artistic project throughout the world and many musicians of international prestige have been trained with this method, such is the case of Gustavo Dudamel, Director of the Philharmonic of Los Angeles.
Angel Hernández, Angélica Martínez, Jacinto Herrera and José Oswaldo Parra have carefully prepared the boys to offer tomorrow a grand closing concert of the second edition of the Youth Orchestral Encounter of the Barceló Foundation. “This year the level of the boys has been very even, so we have been able to move faster than the previous year“, says Angel Hernández that tomorrow will be in charge of conducting the children’s orchestra formed by all the students. “This year we’re going to embroider it. Although we lack some instruments, the orchestra sounds very complete and we are very satisfied with the work that the boys have done all this week” says José Oswaldo Parra.
This initiative, sponsored by the Barceló Foundation and organized by the Professional Conservatory of Music of Felanitx and with the collaboration of the City Council, aims to promote music, the search for new talent and place Felanitx at the epicenter of talent musical of our young people.
