Since early 2005, the Barceló Foundation in collaboration with Paz y Tercer Mundo and Afodenic, has developed this project involving the construction of 498 houses in the city of Juigalpa, Chontales (Nicaragua).
These family homes have been specifically designed and built to allow families access to ‘home-ownership’, an otherwise improbable event for the majority of people. This has been achieved by providing the ‘home owners’ with a 14 year, interest free, low cost buying plan..
In May 2007, the official opening of the Residential Project. ‘Juigalpán Forests’ took place. The project includes the development of land, with paved streets, street lighting, drinking water supply and a sewage treatment plant, which all users can benefit from. The complex also has a park, a nursery and a supermarket that improve the quality of life for all of its residents.
