Today marks the 10th anniversary of the death of one of the founders of the Foundation, Mr. Sebastián Barceló Oliver.
On May 3, 2009, the president of the entity and honorary co-president of the Barceló Group said goodbye to us.
Born in Felanitx in 1930, he was one of the visionaries of the tourism market in Spain and the Caribbean, together with his brother Gabriel. Together they succeeded their father in a business project that has crossed borders and that currently has more than 250 hotels in 22 countries and more than 700 travel agencies on 4 continents.
On October 24, 1989, the two, together with their mother, two sisters and their wives, created the Barceló Foundation, dedicated to international cooperation projects in the neediest countries of Africa and Latin America.
After 30 years of existence, the Foundation has developed more than 1,000 projects in 37 different countries, with 35 million euros invested and more than 1.5 million beneficiaries.
