Even thoug the Nation is in state of alarm and national confinement by COVID-19, the Barceló Foundation makes a donation to the Solidarity Food Project to supply basic necessities to charitable organizations and charity canteens of Majorca.
Complying with the health guidelines established by the Executive, this morning the Foundation has distributed fruit, vegetables and bread to 7 charities on the island, such as Es Refugi, the Little Sisters of the Poor or Ebenezer Maranata in the warehouse it has in Mercapalma or at home delivery.
On this occasion, Barceló Hotel Group also wanted to join in the donation and delivered other products such as milk, yoghurts, butter or cheese to enrich the diet of the most needy.
The Food Solidarity Program born in 2013 with the aim of supplying fresh products weekly (mainly fruit, vegetables and greens) to people without resources.
Later, fish, meat and bread were added. In 2019, more tan 155.000 kg were distributed, benefiting more tan 6.600 people.
From the Barceló Foundation we are in solidarity with the activity being carried out by these charitable organizations which even in the exceptional situation in which we find ourselves have not stopped working to help those who need it most.
