The Barceló Foundation has signed the renewal of the collaboration agreements with the 13 beneficiary entities of its line of aid ‘Social Projects Majorca’, through which the Majorcan foundation offers its support to entities on the island that work with vulnerable groups.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has prevented us this year from holding the usual joint meeting with all the entities, but we have been able to talk to all of them to find out how they are living these difficult times and thank them for having been at the foot of the cannon, looking after the welfare of their users,” says María Antonia Barceló, president of the Barceló Foundation.

Together with María Antonia Barceló, Antonio Monjo, managing director of the Barceló Foundation, and Tolo Márquez, technical manager of these grants, were also present. Together, they have been receiving (one by one and in a staggered manner) the heads of the 13 entities: Deixalles Foundation, Pa i Mel Association, Asnimo, Amés, Aspace, Ires Foundation, Naüm, Sonrisa Médica, ELA Balears, Es Refugi, Zaqueo, Pastoral Penitenciaria and Jove Orquestra Illes Balears.

” We find among the thirteen projects, initiatives aimed at different groups such as people with disabilities, in situations of social exclusion or families and children in vulnerable situations. In all cases, these are entities with an outstanding track record, which carry out commendable work, each one within its field”, highlights Tolo Márquez, technical manager of Social Projects Majorca, while adding that the total value of this year’s call amounts to 124.000 euros.

For his part, Antonio Monjo wanted to highlight the Barceló Foundation’s commitment to the most vulnerable groups in Majorca, not only through the Majorca Social Projects, but also through the Alisol project.

“Since the beginning, in Barceló Foundation we have focused our activity on International Cooperation projects. However, we are not oblivious to the needs of our island and in 2013 we decided to start the Alisol solidarity food distribution project, aware of the increase of families in vulnerable situations. And five years ago, we launched the first call for grants for social projects, through which we have been able to learn about and support the work of many organizations and foundations in Majorca”, remarks the managing director of the Barceló Foundation.
