The entity digitizes its project “Caring for the Caregiver”, financed by our Foundation, to be able to continue accompanying relatives of children with neuro-developmental problems during confinement.
Since March 16th, the Nemo Foundation has replaced face-to-face psychological care for its users with video calls, to continue offering them strategic psychotherapy sessions to reduce the emotional impact of having a member with special needs.
Even so, Ignacio Sánchez Cubillo, Nemo’s neuropsychologist, assures that “the telematic approach is not new for our work team, since before the confinement, video calls were made with some families who, due to geographical distance, could not attend the face-to-face therapies.
The Nemo Foundation assures that the regular users of the project, fully subsidized by the Barceló Foundation, have been joined these months by new families who find themselves in a complicated emotional situation due to what confinement means for a disabled person.
This is one of the 18 social projects of Majorca that we have extended this 2020, giving him a grant of 5.000 euros, which in its three years of history has already served more than 350 parents, brothers and grandparents who had emotional disorders resulting from having a relative with a neurodevelopmental disorder, such as anxiety, stress or depression.
From here we want to show our support for the work carried out by this and the other 35 organisations that have benefited from our aid to keep close to the neediest who are undoubtedly those who suffer most from the consequences of this pandemic.
