The Barceló Foundation commemorates the World Day of Down Syndrome

2019.03.21 //

This morning our president, Maria Antonia Barceló, attended the opening of the exhibition “Because life does not go chromosomes” in the Caixaforum of Palma, organized by ASNIMO to commemorate this festivity.

The Down Syndrome Association of the Balearic Islands is one of the 34 entities that the Foundation subsidizes this year as part of its program to help social organizations in Mallorca. The Foundation has granted them 10,588 euros to finance the project “Leisure and free time for people with disabilities”. The purpose of the project is to create a meeting point for 40 young people with Down Syndrome to interact with their peers, in a normalized leisure environment through three modules: weekend programs, therapeutic leisure and extracurricular activities. Víctor, Zulema, Marta and Miquel are some of its beneficiaries.

“We have been offering comprehensive care to this group for more than 40 years. But our fight does not end today, it will continue until we achieve a more inclusive society and proud of its diversity “, assured Tolo Márquez president of ASNIMO.

The sample, consisting of 15 photographs in both color and black and white, can be visited free of charge until March 28 at the CaixaFórum de Palma.
