The entity builds, together with the Mensa Domini Sisters, a new educational complex that will benefit 105 children, between 2 and 7 years old, from the Morueris area.
The Barceló Foundation has been working since 2016 in the arid zone of Turkana, where it finances several mobile clinics to monitorize the nutritional status of children and elderly people and also pays for the running costs of different nursery schools.
On this occasion, our Foundation with a budget of 35.600 USD has built a classroom, a teachers’ room, a warehouse, a toilet block and a fully equipped kitchen, to guarantee the education and safety of all the children (since until now they received their classes sitting on the floor and were exposed to snake or scorpion stings) as well as their appropriate nutrition, because they will receive two healthy and balanced meals every day: breakfast and lunch.
Last April, the opening ceremony was held and was attended by all the families of the community which will be benefited from the project, approximately 300 people, as well as the Kaaleng district priest, Mr. Nonoy Cabilo.
The final objective of the project is, through the provision of the necessary infrastructure, to prepare all these children for insertion into the traditional educational system.
