More than a hundred people attended last night at the opening of the new exhibition of collective painting of the Barceló Foundation in his headquarters in Palma (Street St Jaume, 4).
Titled “Gil and friends” is an exhibition in tribute to the artist Guillermo Gil, one of the few exponents left on the island of Majorcan customs. He is considered as the painter of the Tramuntana Mountain Range by excellence, since he has dedicated a good part of his work to this natural heritage, declared BIC by UNESCO in 2011. Currently, at 83, he continues to paint in his studio at Establiments.
The exhibition, composed of 33 paintings, also collaborates with his friends Joan Vich, Juan Manuel Pastor and José Luis Godoy, artists each with their own style and technique. In this way, the Barceló Foundation anticipates the Nit de l’Art that will be held on Saturday, September 21.
The event was attended by the Delegate of Culture of the Balearic Government, Catalina Solivellas; the invited artists Guillermo Gil, Joan Vich, Juan Manuel Pastor and José Luis Godoy, and the art director of the Barceló Foundation and curator of the exhibition, Pilar Pujol.
The exhibition can be enjoyed, free of charge, until next October 11, 2019. Visiting hours are Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. hours. This Saturday, September 21, on the occasion of the Nit de l’Art, it will also be open from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. hours.
