The Barceló Foundation launches the Second Youth Orchestral Encounter, inspired by the Abreu method

Due to the success of the first edition, Felanitx will once again become the birthplace of the musical talent of the young Mallorcan promises of the next 8 to July 13, 2019.

Promoted and sponsored by the Barceló Foundation, organized by the Conservatori Professional de Música de Felanitx and with the collaboration of the Ajuntament de Felanitx, the contest is aimed at children and young people from 8 to 14 years old living on the island who play any of the symphonic instruments: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, trumpet, trombone, tuba, violin, viola, cello, double bass and percussion.

The meeting will consist of conducting intensive workshops of orchestral practice (which will take place from Monday to Friday), led by internationally renowned musicians and teachers specializing in orchestral pedagogy within the System of Orchestras of Venezuela, such as Ángel Hernández or Angélica Martínez. This system devised by the maestro José Antonio Abreu is an exemplary educational and artistic project throughout the world and there are many musicians of international prestige who have been trained with this method, such as Gustavo Dudamel, Director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

On Saturday afternoon, as the culmination of the Encounter, all participating students will form an orchestra that will offer a closing concert at the Church of the Convent of Felanitx.
