The Barceló Foundation publishes the Activities Report of 2018

During 2018 The Foundation carried out 146 projects in 27 different countries with a total expenditure of almost 3 million euros and more than 400 thousand beneficiaries.

This is clear from the activities report published by the entity this week, it representing an increase of more than 40 % compared to the activity developed in 2017

In health area stands out the FARMASOL project (Solidarity Pharmacies and Health Education), managed directly by the Foundation, to improve the health of the most needy. We closed the year with more than 20 FARMASOL projects in five different countries (Uganda, Ethiopia, Kenya, Chad and Tanzania) and more than 200 thousand beneficiaries.

Also, the ALISOL project, Food Solidarity, destinated to the donation of perishable food (vegetables, fruit, meet, fish, etc.), for people in real need in Mallorca, increased compared to 2017. Last year, more than 163 tons of fresh products were delivered to a total of 14 charitable associations on the island, reaching more than three thousand beneficiaries a week.

In 2018, the Foundation approved the financing of 32 social projects in Mallorca, aimed at the most vulnerable groups: people with disabilities, people in situation of social exclusion, patients with rare diseases, etc.; paying 145 thousand euros in the year. Some of the beneficiary entities were ASNIMO, ASPACE or Pastoral Penitenciaría.

In the Education Area 1.452 educational scholarships were given to children and teenagers in vulnerable situations in Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cote d’Ivore, Ethiopia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras and the Dominican Republic.

35% of the solidarity projects undertaken in the area of agricultural and environmental development were executed in Haití, a country that continues to face great challenges after the impact of the natural disasters suffered in the last decade. 174.000 euros were invested in 8 projects that benefited more than 25.000 people.

Finally, the Memory includes the audited economic data for the year, such as the balance sheet and the income statement, in order to maintain the standards of transparency and good governance in the entity.
