The Barceló Foundation and the Association Calor and Café inaugurate a childcare centre in Kenya

Both entities join forces and build a kindergarten in the community of Sokwt to ensure the education of 50 children from 2 to 5 years old.

It is located in North Kopot County, in the north of the country, the new educational building will also ensure the safety of all the children, nowadays they received classes in a precarious and dangerous environment (under a tree), and their correct feeding, as they will receive two healthy and balanced meals a day (breakfast and lunch).

With the donation of the Foundation, the kingergarten has been built under the supervision of the Association Calor and Café. The kindergarten has a classroom, a kitchen, a theacher`s house and a water tank.

In May, the inauguration ceremony was celebrated, attended by all the families of the community which will be beneficiaries, approximately 300 people. Children, teachers, fathers and mothers will attend these educational meetings or health education.

The final objective of the project is to prepare all these children for their insertion into the traditional educational system, through the necessary infrastructures.

The Association Calor and Café of Granada has been working during 26 years in the African Continent and has started up some schools, medical clinics, wells and water tanks benefiting thousands of people from more than 30 communities in one of the most impoverished areas of Kenya.
