The Foundation provides the annual medicines necessary for the operation of the Mother Angioleta Health Center in Gulu, benefiting more than 10,500 residents of the area.
Managed by the little Sisters of Mary Inmaculate congregation, the clinic serves residents of 4 nearby villages: Angaba, Palami, Aywee and Abili. But the Sisters have constant problems to provide medical services to the population, as well as to provide them with medicines for their treatments.
For this reason, Barceló Foundation donated 9.000 euros to buy all the medicines and materials necessary for the operation of the health center for one year.
Due to the smooth operation of both the centre’s staff and the increase in the number of patients, the current facilities have become obsolete. For this reason, the Foundation is already considering improving the health infrastructures of Mother Angioleta, in order to provide it with a maternity ward, a laboratory, a delivery room, a pharmacy store and several external consultations in the future.
With this there are already 21 FARMASOL projects opened in 5 African countries: Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Chad (with Solidarity Pharmacies and Health Education projects). All of them operate at full capacity, which allows that today approximately 500 thousand people have already been able to improve their health conditions.
