2019.09.25 //

The traveling exhibition created by the Sorolla Museum and the Sorolla Museum Foundation, changes the walls of the Formentor Hotel to the exhibition rooms of our Foundation.

On 22th October, the exhibition, which focuses exclusively on the presence of photography in the life of Joaquín Sorolla, can be visited in the headquarters of the Barceló Foundation in Palma (Street Saint Jaime, 4).

Sorolla was one of the most renowed Spanish painters, but also developed a great passion for photography. Thanks for it, he met Antonio García, the great patriarch of Valencian photography, who would become his father in law, since he married with his daughter Clotilde García.

He was always the objective of photographers because the importance of his figure and his status as an artist, from the masters of his time such as Antonio García, Christina Franzen or the Majorcan Guillem Bestard, to some of the great American photographers such as Sebastian Cruset or Williams M. Hollinger, with whom he maintained a close relationship after his 1909 exhibitions.

It is an eminently photographic and chronologically organized exhibition, which shows us the close relationship between Sorolla and the photographers, between the painter and the photography.
