Our solidarity project FARMASOL MANDURA, ETHIOPIA, has been interrupted by the State of Alarm and Emergency declared recently by the Prime Minister of the country. Since 2017, the Barceló Foundation has been assisting the health centre in that area with the supply of medicines and the creation of the maternity centre and the payment of the midwife’s salary. However, due to serious security problems for the staff, the clinic has been forced to close, leaving the Comboni missionaries alone to attend to the population, who unfortunately, due to the terrible massacres that are spreading throughout the area, are suffering the consequences.
We hope that all the personnel are now in a safe place and that the situation will soon return to normal in Mandura.
The Foundation will continue to assist the missionaries in their emergency work and we are confident that we will continue to support the clinic project when it reopens.
