Treatment of disabled and homeless people in Ethiopia

2020.07.28 //

The Barceló Foundation finances an integral attention program for 175 mentally ill and disabled people who lived on Addis Abeba’ streets.

In collaboration with the Missionaries of Charity, we carry out this project, which consists of providing psychological support and rehabilitation to men over 16 years with some kind of disability who live in the assistance center, located in the capital, that the missionaries managed since 1984.

Thanks to the contribution of our Foundation, which amounts to 12 thousand euros, the necessary equipment to fit out the physiotherapy room has been acquired (stretcher, static bicycle, stimulation machines, etc.)

In addition, part of the budget will be used to pay the houses’ rent of homeless families, mainly women and children, for their treatment and reintegration into society.
